Construction is finishing for the seven cabins Great Pond Adventure Center in northern Maine.
Per the contract issued by the NAVY, seven 900 sf lakeside cottages were constructed at the outdoor adventure center.
The cottages are constructed to mimic the traditional cabins and were erected with minimal disturbance to the surrounding landscape.
The two-bedroom
cottages are wood frame construction, with standing-seam, gabled metal roofs
and interior pine board siding. Floor to ceiling windows in the kitchen and
living space brings light to the loft sleeping space. Additionally, each cottage
has a screen porch facing the lake.
Due to the sloping site, careful civil work was preformed and the cottages now sit on concrete piers.
The cottages have been registered under the LEED for Homes program and are anticipated to achieve Silver certification.
